GENERAL SESSION
Beyond Borders Two disparate forces are converging in Europe, together they will change the way we all run our businesses. The first is technology, the second - economic unification. Both are reaching tipping points. The opening of technology standards is changing the way technology is developed and the move to services changing the way it is deployed, whilst Brussels Directives, for example, the Markets in Financial Instrument's Directive (MiFID) and the Directive for Payments Services in the Internal Market (SEPA), are forging the creation of one European capital market. Both forces are driving a fresh wave of mergers and acquisitions.
Experts from both areas will dive into their latest respective initiatives, providing insight into how managers can turn this convergence to their advantage. Building scale beyond organisational and geographic borders is one way to seize the initiative. Joint-ventures, outsourcing, offshoring, embracing co-opetition, new alliances and cross-border mergers are the shared characteristics of those who are taking the lead.
